A little while ago I had a strange, slightly conflicting experience in terms or my liking and disliking it all at the same time. It is called a live match of Thai box which I witnessed in Koh Samui island, late 2016.

In general I am not a great fan of fighting, violence, etc, but it is most certainly clear in the case of Thai boxing that it is mainly rooted in the ART and mastery of martial arts, it is deeply respectful all from the beginning till the end. They start with a sacred dance honoring the fight, the ring, the opponent and the faith. Throughout the fight the opponents almost never loose control, stay focused...incredibly enduring and relentless - and all that in some crazy hot weather. In the end they make sure that the losing party is "OK" and leave the ring honorably and hopefully without anybody's help.

Pavisam nesen es pieredzēju neparastu, nedaudz neviennozīmīgu notikumu. Neviennozīmīgu, jo tas reizē izraisīja gan patiku, gan nepatiku. Notikums bija dzīvā Taizemes boksa cīņa Koh Samui salā 2016 gada nogalē.

Es kopumā galīgi neesmu dažādu cīņu, vardarbības, agresijas fane, bet šajā gadījumā man jāatzīst, ka Taizemes boksa galvenā "sāls" un būtība slēpjas cīņas MĀKSLĀ un meistarībā. Tā ir cieņpilna cīņa no sākuma līdz pašām beigām. Pirms cīņa sākusies, pretinieki veic rituālo deju izrādot cieņu pret cīņu, ringu, pretinieku un ticību, kas pamatā šim cīņas veidam. Cīņas laikā pretinieki praktiski nekad nezaudē patiesu kontroli pār savām emocijām...viņi ir neticami izturīgi un neatlaidīgi, un neiedomājamā sutā. Pat cīņas beigās uzvarētājs pārliecinās vai zaudētājam viss "kārtībā" un rings tiek pamests ar cieņu un, ja Dievs dod, tad pašam saviem spēkiem.
